
Curriculum
This PGY1 pharmacy residency program builds on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training. The program is structured to suit the individual needs of the resident and to provide an environment of quality training and pharmaceutical care.

Additional Responsibilities

Teaching Certificate Program
Residents will be awarded a teaching certificate from Chapman University, School of Pharmacy at the end of the year after completion of several requisite activities, seminars, and assignments. Students will also be encouraged to go on-site to proctor exams and lead conferences. Residents will also oversee IPPE and APPE students from various schools.

Research Project
Per ASHP, pharmacy-related research is mandatory competency area that must be completed. Residents will pair off with a pharmacy research mentor to conduct a longitudinal research project, with final write-up suitable for publication due at the end of residency. Presentation at conferences is encouraged.

Administrative Duties
Residents will report pertinent data to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee on a regular basis, along with presenting in-services to the inpatient staff. Residents must also present formulary monographs and drug usage evaluations to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee on a regular basis.
