I chose Kindred La Mirada for its distinctive and robust opportunities that align seamlessly with my primary career interests in Infectious Diseases and Academia. The patient population served by Kindred is particularly compelling, as many individuals present with complex infections that often require therapeutic approaches beyond guideline recommended therapy. This unique clinical environment continuously challenges me to develop my clinical knowledge and critical thinking skills, ultimately striving to deliver optimized care for our patients. Additionally, Kindred’s partnership with Chapman University School of Pharmacy provides an invaluable opportunity to participate in a teaching certificate program. Through this initiative, I have the privilege of engaging in a variety of educational activities, including lectures and workshops, which enrich my professional development. Beyond the certification, Kindred offers numerous opportunities to mentor and educate the next generation of pharmacists, with ongoing involvement in precepting both IPPE and APPE students. As I progress through my residency, I have experienced unwavering support from my preceptors and staff, fostering a safe and encouraging learning environment. This program has not only deepened my commitment to patient-centered care but has also bolstered my confidence as I navigate the early stages of my pharmacy career. I chose Kindred because of my interest in infectious diseases and critical care. As a long-term acute care hospital, many of Kindred's patients present with complex infections involving multi-drug-resistant organisms. This environment offers a unique opportunity to grow as a clinician while deepening my understanding of these challenging infections. Additionally, this program allows me to teach and precept students, enhancing my educational experience and reinforcing my learning. As a resident, I have the privilege of interacting daily with Kindred La Mirada’s managers and leaders, collaborating with various clinicians, and expanding my professional network. This program has significantly enhanced my clinical knowledge and fostered my growth, making me more comfortable and confident in delivering patient-centered care.
